Transgender Day of Visibility
March 31st is Transgender Day of Visibility. Visibility means for many trans people, especially if they are affected by multiple discrimination, to put themselves in danger. Therefore, trans people experience a lot of pressure to be perceived as cis people in public.

Without equal rights, visibility is a privilege.

Visibility for us is also about places where trans people are welcome. Although trans people are supposed to be welcome in FLINTA (Women, Lesbian, Inter, Non-Binary, Trans, and Agender) spaces, many trans people experience discrimination and exclusion in these spaces.

We want real recognition instead of performative acceptance.

Now the draft for the Self-Determination Law is available, which will finally replace the outdated and discriminatory „Transsexual Law“ (TSG) of 1980.

We welcome the fact that trans people will soon be able to change their name and gender entry without an assessor’s opinion and court proceedings.

However, we also have some points of criticism:
The waiting period of 3 months until the change comes into force is too long.
The reference to the house-regulations to exclude trans female people from women’s spaces is transmisogyny.
We feel that trans people between the ages of 14 and 17 should also be able to determine their identity without the consent of their guardians.

The new Self-Determination Law must not reproduce trans discrimination again.

We demand equal access to all rights for all trans people.
Whether you are „visible“ or not - you are felt and loved!
Trans people, you matter because you exist! ...

Aufgrund hoher Nachfrage und ausgelasteter Kapazitäten können wir ab dem 20.04.2024 neue Fachberatungen im Bereich Antigewalt- und Antidiskriminierung anbieten.

Der 21. März ist der Internationale Tag gegen Rassismus. Als queere Beratungsstelle mit intersektionaler Ausrichtung versuchen wir Rassismus, Queer- und Transfeindlichkeit und weitere Diskriminierungsformen zusammen zu denken. Wir beobachten mit Erschrecken aktuelle Entwicklungen in Bezug auf strukturellen und institutionellen Rassismus in Berlin und deutschlandweit.

Wir haben unsere Kolleg*innen Yezenia und Gülây gefragt, wie sie aktuelle Entwicklungen in Bezug auf Rassismus in Berlin wahrnehmen und was ihre Wünsche sind.

Omar Victor Diop - exhibition and talk

At 17:45 we will visit the exhibition together and at 19:00 attend the artist talk between artist Omar Victor Diop and curator Azu Nwagbogu a conversation about the representation of diasporic experiences and global politics of Black resistance. Using artistic self-portraiture as a key tool to engage with complex representational politics and community embodiment.
