World Mental Health Awareness Day 2024
10. Oktober
Am World Mental Health Awareness Day machen wir von LesMigraS und der Lesbenberatung Berlin auf die anhaltenden Auswirkungen aufmerksam, die das globale und lokale politische Klima auf die psychische Gesundheit der Menschen in unseren Communities hat. Verwobene Themen wie Rassismus, Diskriminierung, Vertreibung, Mangel an Gemeinschaft, begrenzte Ressourcen und medizinische Vernachlässigung sind ebenfalls eine große Belastung für die psychische Gesundheit von trans, inter und queeren Menschen.
In diesen Zeiten ist eine unterstützende, zugängliche psychische Gesundheitsversorgung für unsere Communities wichtiger denn je, und wir sollten sie zu einer Priorität machen. Wir müssen auf eine Entstigmatisierung und Entpathologisierung der Diskussionen über psychische Gesundheit innerhalb der LGBTIQ+-Communities hinarbeiten und uns für zugängliche, kollektive Trauerprozesse, gender-sensible, kulturell kompetente, trauma-sensible und nicht verurteilende Unterstützung für marginalisierte Menschen einsetzen.
Lesbenberatung bietet Psychoziale Fachberatung an.
LesMigraS bietet Antidiskriminierungs- und Antigewalt Fachberatung, Empowerment Fachberatungen und Workshops, und Beratung zu Asylrecht, an.

📌How can I be in solidarity with bisexual people within LGBTIQA+ communities?
🔵Challenge prejudices against bisexual people:
🔵Bisexuality is an important identity like all other identities from the LGBTIQA+ spectrum and does not mean being "half gay, half straight."
🔵Bisexuality is not binary.
🟣Trans and non-binary people can also be bi.
🟣Bisexual people are bi no matter who they date, no matter their gender.
🔴Don`t make assumptions, about sexual orientation, when you know who people are dating or having s3x with.
🔴No hetero - and homonormativity!
📌What does it mean to be bisexual in the asylum process?..
Due to preconceived judgements about what it means to be bisexual in the asylum process, many people who come out as bisexual have a more
difficult time of having their applications granted as opposed to when they come out as `gay` or `lesbian`. Some bisexual asylum seekers feel they need to conceal their bisexuality by `performing` a perceived notion of being gay or lesbian to expand their
chances.
The asylum system divides people into the binary of gay/lesbian vs. heterosexual and leaves no room beyond that.
As long as there are still oppressive structures in place that control borders and force people to seek refuge, these systems should acknowledge
bisexuality as being legitimate without compromise.
